What is the C.A.R.E. Program?

C.A.R.E stands for: Catch, Alter, Release, and Educate.
There are several "feral cat" colonies in Murray, and unless these cats are eventually humanly caught and spayed/neutered, there will continue to be more and more every year. Besides just the shear number at which these cats can reproduce, they are also carriers of diseases since no one vaccinates them. This not only poses a threat to peoples' pets, but to people as well. Many cats and kittens starve or freeze to death during the winter because there is a lack of food and shelter for them. Sadly, others also get killed on the road while they are out looking for food or a new mate. We also educate the public about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets through brochures, fundraising events, and even go to local schools and give presentations on the matter.
How does it work?
Lost But Loved Animal Rescue will place a HUMANE live trap on your property where there is said to be a "feral cat". Once the cat is caught, we take it that day to our veterinarian and have it spayed or neutered and vaccinated for rabies. We keep the cat for a few days to make sure that it will recover well after the surgery, and then we re-release it back at the exact location from which it was caught. If there is a young cat or kitten that does not seem "feral" and does not have a litter of kittens that she is taking care of, we may put them into a foster home until we can find them a loving forever home. The only way that we can afford to do this is with donations from the public. We are a 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible. We do not receive funds from the government or the United Way....at least not yet..... That would be a wonderful blessing, but has yet to happen. Until then, we can only continue to do this for as long as we receive donations for it. Below is an overview of what each cat costs us to enter into our C.A.R.E Program:
Male Cat: Anesthesia, Cat Neuter, Surgical Supplies, Pain Medication, Rabies Vaccine and Tag, Board. Total Cost: $50.00
Female Cat: Anesthesia, Cat Spay, Surgical Supplies, Pain Medication, Rabies Vaccine and Tag, Board. Total Cost: $70.00
Please Donate and help us help them!

How do I get my name on the list for "Feral Cat" locations?
Please contact us via our Contact Us page and leave your contact information and any other information that you have about your "feral cat" situation. We will put your name on a list and call you when your area has been selected.
Please be patient! We are all volunteers here and can only do as many cats as we have funds for. That may be as many as 5 cats a month or as little as one cat a month. We will go in order of locations as we get them.
What if I don't want to wait?
If you don't want to wait, and really want to get the cats in your area spayed/neutered, now we will be more than happy to come out and trap the cats on your property for you, but you will be responsible for paying for their surgeries. You can still get the reduced prices mentioned above, but instead of waiting for the funds to come in, you can go ahead and pay for it yourself and already have your area done. If this sounds like something that you would like to take part in, please contact us via our Contact Us page and leave as much information as you can. You will have to pre-pay for all surgeries and rabies vaccines before the cats are dropped off for their surgery and rabies vaccine.
